Mother's Day Special

Mother’s Day, a day you can call over hyped, over celebrated or just another day but we’ll still celebrate with pomp and joy. There’s truly no special day for mommies however this one day let’s celebrate their 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 with all that we can.

While we are in lockdown, we had the chance to chat with one 𝘆𝘂𝗺𝗺𝘆𝗺𝘂𝗺𝗺𝘆 @raisingkarma, Shubhreet! She shared a few 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 with us on how her life and routine has evolved through 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲, being a mother of two cuties. Below are her candid answers…

  1. Parenting Tips during Covid lockdown.

Just like the situation we live in has changed, parenting also has to change. Instead of giving tips, I just wanna day that go easy on yourself. It’s okay if you made daal chawal for three days in a row because it’s fast and easy to cook. It’s okay if you can’t homeschool your child everyday because you are tired from work & chores. It’s okay if you let them watch cartoons during meals because you need a break too. It’s all okay! Better to use this time to bond as a family, play with your kids, even do chores together. You’re keeping your family safe and indoors! That’s most important!

  1. How are you finding time for yourself in this lockdown?

So frankly I don’t even have time to comb my hair! But somehow I’ve gotten better with skincare now than I was before. I’m lazy on beauty regimes in general. But now I’ve dug all my stuff & wear a face mask during chores sometimes. Shower before bedtime is my me-time to be honest. Lol! So I use a face scrub, put some hair mask, even use my lip scrub. Using hand & foot creams every night now because I’m always on feet and of course, between kids and cleaning, cooking & dish washing, some extra self care feels nice & relaxing at the end of day.

  1. How do you keep your skin hydrated and healthy with few basics?

I drink a lot of water! I prefer cold or room temperature water to warm specially since it’s hot these days. Plus I’m breastfeeding my second one so I need the extra hydration anyhow. But first thing after waking up and before sleeping at night, I gulp down a lot of water. Secondly, I’ve realised the advantages of just simply moisturising your skin everyday. So that’s something I do my bath before sleeping without fail.

  1. Your take on using sustainable natural products as a step to mindfulness.

I’m not a hardcore sustainable living person but I’m not careless either. I started a new video series called Own Less Wear More in an effort to make people become more conscious buyers & own less clothes without compromising on style. We also collect our RO water to clean countertops etc. We use cloth bags all the time etc. So many small steps like these. I feel the same applies to sustainable natural products. They’re easy, gentle and effective on your skin & don’t harm our environment. Plus if more people make one aspect of their life completely towards sustainable, it’ll have a bigger effect than just few people doing everything. It’s not difficult to do & I think the lockdown has made people realise that. We’re back to basics and managing just fine.

  1. Your go-to skincare product/ ritual/ DIY/ Tip

I’m hooked to lip balms. I have dry lips. In fact the lower part of face is dry overall. So in fact, BLISCENT’s Lip Butter is always on my bedside table. I use lip balm all day long. So that’s definite my go to product!

With this Quarantine, we wish everyone is safe and sound and taking care of their families!
