Skincare Tips we wish we knew earlier

There is a common misconception that skincare should start when you are older or in your 30s, but the truth is that the earlier you begin your skincare journey, the better. However, it is never too late to be proactive about the health of your skin and give it a boost.

Here are a few tips that you can incorporate in your routine even if you have missed out on doing them until now:

  • Double cleanse at night – it helps get rid of dirt, makeup and sunscreen and reduces the chance of getting breakouts.
  • Never skip moisturiser – regardless of your skin type, everyone needs to use a suitable moisturiser in order to keep their skin hydrated.
  • Do not pick on your acne – they will only become worse as the bacteria on your hands will transfer to your skin. Also, bursting/popping acne will leave scars behind.
  • Drink lots of water – A minimum of 2 litres a day is a good start. Water helps flush toxins away as well as keep your skin hydrated.
  • Patch test new products – before using any new products, always test them on your inner arm to avoid any kind of irritation on your skin.
  • Remove your makeup before sleeping – sleeping with makeup may end up clogging your pores and resulting in breakouts. However late at night it is, do take a few minutes to double cleanse.
  • Clean your makeup brushes – They harbour a lot of bacteria and oils which transfer to our skin every time we use them. So, clean them once every few days to avoid breakouts.
  • Apply sunscreen everyday – even if it is a cloudy day, the UV rays from the sun can still cause damage to your skin and result in faster ageing.
  • Always apply your skincare all the way till your neck – the skin on your neck is thin and sensitive and prone to ageing, so ensure that you moisturise that area too.
  • Lastly, keep your skincare routine simple and consistent!
